Mr. Tanguay’s kitchen a reality

Beginning with a sketch and a service learning grant Mr. Thurston,  Mr. Lovejoy and the students of the Ecology Academy were able to construct an outdoor kitchen with home made solar hot air heaters. The plan was hatched by former social studies teacher Steve Tanguay as a way to use the fresh vegetables right from the garden for nutritious meals. Our first meal will be after Thanksgiving break. The kids plan on baking pizzas in the adjacent clay oven while making Christmas wreaths for the staff.

Plans for the home made solar heaters will be outlined in a future blog along with pictures of the process.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of this! Here in rainy Ireland, we are lucky to have enough sunshine in the summer, let alone this time of the year.
